Mysteries at the Hoover Dam

On our way to Arizona we checked off one of my bucket list items and I discovered an unusual symbol placed in the plaques on the Dam.

Last spring on a trip from Las Vegas to Sedona we made a detour to see one of the wonders of the world the Hoover Dam. This site is an amazing feat of engineering and holds many unusual sights and some that are extra special.

Strange Star Chart

So as I wandered around the dedication monument for the dam I could not help but be confused by the elaborate inlaid diagram showing the heavens on the day the dam was dedicated September 30, 1935. Representing different star clusters and land marks to show where in the 26000 year cycle that this dam was completed. The purpose they say is to allow people(or aliens) from thousands of years in the future to calculate the date of dedication using astronomical mathematics. This set off my spider senses.

Why not just date it? Why add all this elaborate yet interesting detail as a reference for the future?

I snapped a few photos of the zodiac signs and we toured around a bit more but I knew there was a lot more going on with this unusual monument than was obvious on the surface.

Later when I was flipping through the photos of the dam I noticed a symbol on the bottom right hand side of this plaque. At first I thought it was the artist's signature but then in the Leo and Pieces photos I took the symbol was in different areas of those photos. Maybe it was an astrological sign or symbol and I set out to searching images for some kind of match. For hours I scoured different types of ancient languages for some kind of common denominator without success.

It was like a word that was on the tip of my tongue or a memory I just could not reach in my mind. Like walking into a room to get something but unable to remember what it was. It was something I could not let go of.

I was blown away by the answer. It was everything I could have hoped for. Not only did I get the answer of what the symbol was for and why it was there but how it helped the Engineers building the dam. For me this was a big deal and I want to share it with all of you.
